Terms & Conditions
These terms explain how our Sell Your PC valuation and purchasing service works.
1. About Us
Camber Components is a UK-based sole trader business specialising in purchasing second-hand computers and selling computer components.
These Terms & Conditions apply to customers using our Sell Your PC valuation and purchasing service.
2. Requesting a Valuation
Customers can request a valuation by submitting details and photographs of their computer through our website.
Submitting a valuation request does not commit the customer to selling their computer or oblige Camber Components to purchase it.
We aim to provide valuations based on the information supplied, current market values and the anticipated condition of the computer.
3. Accuracy of Information
Customers must provide accurate information about their computer to the best of their knowledge, including:
- Specifications and installed components.
- Physical condition and any visible damage.
- Known faults or functionality issues.
- Any missing components or accessories.
If information is inaccurate or incomplete, we may revise our offer following inspection.
4. Offers and Acceptance
Any offer issued by Camber Components will have an expiry date.
Customers are free to accept or decline an offer. If an offer expires, a new valuation may be required.
Acceptance of an initial offer allows the purchasing process to proceed but does not immediately transfer ownership of the computer to Camber Components.
5. Postage and Collection
Camber Components will arrange and pay for the postage or courier collection of computers accepted into our purchasing process.
Where applicable, customers will receive a prepaid postage label or collection instructions.
Customers must not send their computers until they have received instructions from Camber Components.
Customers are responsible for packaging their computers securely in accordance with the instructions provided.
6. Loss or Damage During Transport
Where Camber Components arranges the delivery or collection service, we will take responsibility for loss or damage occurring during that arranged transport.
Customers must follow our packaging instructions and notify us promptly of any relevant issues.
Any compensation claims against the courier will be handled by Camber Components.
7. Testing and Inspection
Once we receive a computer, please allow 1–5 working days for testing and inspection.
We will assess its specifications, physical condition and functionality against the information provided during the valuation process.
If the computer matches the declared specifications and condition, we will proceed with the agreed purchase price.
8. Revised Offers
If testing or inspection identifies discrepancies, Camber Components may issue a revised offer explaining the proposed change.
Customers may accept or decline a revised offer.
If the customer accepts, we will proceed with the revised purchase price.
If the customer declines, we will arrange and pay for the computer to be returned.
9. Payment
All customer payments are made by bank transfer from the Camber Components business bank account.
Following successful inspection and confirmation of the agreed purchase price, we will initiate payment immediately.
The time taken for funds to appear in the customer's bank account may depend on their bank.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate bank account details through our designated payment process.
10. Ownership of the Computer
The computer remains the customer's property throughout postage, delivery, testing and inspection.
Ownership transfers to Camber Components only once the agreed purchase price has been paid to the customer.
If a revised offer is declined, the computer remains the customer's property and will be returned at our expense.
11. Customer Data and Secure Erasure
Before sending a computer, customers should:
- Back up any files or information they wish to keep.
- Sign out of personal accounts and services.
- Remove personal information where possible.
- Remove any storage devices they do not intend to include in the sale, provided this has been agreed with Camber Components.
During inspection, Camber Components may access or test storage devices to assess the computer. Secure data erasure is not part of the pre-purchase inspection process.
After the computer has been purchased and payment completed, secure data erasure is carried out as part of our inventory processing checklist, before storage devices are prepared for resale or reuse.
If a revised offer is declined, the computer will be returned without deliberately erasing its storage drives. Customers should nevertheless maintain their own backups, as we cannot guarantee that pre-existing faults or normal diagnostic testing will leave data unaffected.
Data erasure is intended to prevent the recovery of information from storage devices before they are resold or reused.
Customers should be aware that successfully erased data cannot normally be recovered.
If a computer cannot be purchased or must be returned, its handling will follow our existing inspection and return procedures.
12. Proof of Ownership
By submitting a computer for valuation, customers confirm that:
- They are the legal owner or have authority to sell it.
- The computer is not stolen.
- The computer is not subject to outstanding finance or another person's ownership rights.
- The information supplied is accurate to the best of their knowledge.
Camber Components may request reasonable evidence of ownership before completing a purchase.
13. Returns Following a Declined Offer
If a customer declines a revised offer, Camber Components will arrange and pay for return postage.
We will provide the customer with information about the return arrangements.
14. Privacy and Personal Information
Personal information collected through the Sell Your PC service is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
This includes information provided during valuation requests, correspondence, collection arrangements and payments.
15. Changes to These Terms
Camber Components may update these Terms & Conditions when necessary.
The version applicable to a customer's valuation request will be the version made available when they submit that request, unless a subsequent change is expressly agreed.
16. Applicable Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal protections that apply.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
17. Contact Us
Customers can contact Camber Components regarding valuations, offers, postage, inspection, payment or returns.
